On January 10th, BCRC China and Gansu Academy of Ecoenvironmental Sciences announced the formal establishment of the Basel Convention Regional Center for Asia and the Pacific environmental technology transfer and publicity Gansu demonstration base, and held the unveiling ceremony in Lanzhou, Gansu Province. Members of BCRC China, units directly under Department of ecology and environment of Gansu Province, municipal (prefecture) ecological environment bureaus , representatives of relevant universities, scientific research institutes and enterprises attended the signing ceremony. Through the establishment of the demonstration base, BCRC China and Gansu Academy of Ecoenvironmental Sciences will jointly promote the application and construction of scientific and technological research projects and provincial scientific research platforms related to solid waste management, jointly promote the formulation and revision of local standards and norms related to solid waste in Gansu Province, support the construction of ” zero waste cities” in Gansu Province. With the great strategic opportunities of "SouthSouth Cooperation" and "the belt and road initiative", BCRC China and Gansu Academy of Ecoenvironmental Sciences will jointly carry out international environmental exchanges and cooperation, and promote the experience of solid waste management between Gansu Province and international organizations.
