From March 14 th to 16 th , the Asia-Pacific Regional Preparatory Meeting for the 2023 Conferences of the Parties to the Basel, Rotterdam, and Stockholm conventions was held in Bangkok, Thailand. Dong Qingyin, the Chief of Regional waste management branch of BCRC China, was invited to attend the meeting as an observer. Li Yingying, the Programme Officer, attended the meeting as a member of the Chinese government delegation. More than 80 people, including representatives from over 30 Parties delegations, the BCRC/SCRCs, NGO organizations of the Asia-Pacific region, and representatives from the Secretariats of Basel, Rotterdam, and Stockholm conventions, participated in the meeting. The objective of the regional preparatory meeting is to give Parties within the Asia-Pacific region the possibility to consult each other in advance of the 2023 COPs, consider meeting documents, discuss substantive matters, identify regional priorities and challenges, and facilitate the preparation of regional positions.
