Recycling utilization of urban and rural organic waste

Time:

Address:

This sub-forum focuses on resource utilization of urban and rural organic waste. Its goal is to transform a large amount of urban and rural organic waste into resources and energy products through scientific treatment, and further returns to the environment to achieve carbon reduction and sequestration. It is an important way to implement the national ecological civilization strategy, practice concept of green recycling, improve soil carbon sink, and accelerate to realize carbon neutrality. It is related to environmental governance, soil health and sustainable development of agriculture. It is also an important component of comprehensive achieving high-quality economy, integrated social governance and ecological dual-carbon goals. The sub-forum focuses on typical urban and rural organic waste, inviting relevant experts to discuss the facing problems and opportunities of industry and scientific research progress together, the sub-forum also provides an exchanges and cooperation platform for scientific and technological workers in relevant fields to share the latest progress and results.

  • Ji LI professor

Organic Recycling Research Institue (Suzhou) of China Agricultural University

Ji Li is the professor and doctoral supervisor of China Agricultural University. He was awarded his PhD degree from Beijing Agricultural University in 1992. He is mainly engaged in two research aspects which are Long-Term Research on Composting in Organic Agriculture and Recycling of Organic Waste. He has undertaken a number of national projects, and presided over "13th Five-Years" national key research and development plan project which named "Research and Development of intelligent control equipment and aerobic fermentation technology of agricultural waste" (2016YFD0800600) (2016-2020). He has awarded 2 national awards, 5 provincial and ministerial first prizes. He published more than 200 academic papers, including more than 60 SCI articles, 30 authorized patents, and published 17 monographs. He is first drafter chaired the formulation of 3 ministerial standards, while the second drafter participated in the formulation of 2 ministerial standards. Relying on China composting website, he has continuously hosted 15 national composting technology and engineering training conferences in China. Professor Ji Li is currently the Dean of the Organic Cycle Research Institute of China Agricultural University (Suzhou). In 2018, the construction of the R&D platform and the talent team was completed, and approval was obtained as a new R&D institution in Suzhou. It opened officially in February 2019. The academic committee of the Institute led by Professor Ji Li, jointly submitted a proposal to Vice Premier Han Zheng of The State Council on June 6, 2019, which is about accelerating the organic waste treatment and utilization of urban and rural areas of our country. Vice Premier Zheng Han gave important instructions on the matter, he pointed out: "The experts' suggestions are great, and the Yangtze River Delta Office should carefully study them." It is very significative to carry out the demonstration work of urban and rural organic waste, which is still in the preliminary stage in our country. The Yangtze River Delta region has the conditions, foundation and the ability to make a demonstration, and we must thoroughly study and make breakthroughs in key points." Vice Premier Zheng Han instructed the National Development and Reform Commission to organize specific implementation. The construction of the demonstration zone will be guided and implemented by the National Development and Reform Commission. First, the project will build the demonstration zone in five cities around Taihu Lake (Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, Jiaxing and Huzhou). It involves 269 towns in five cities around Taihu Lake, with a total investment of 35 billion yuan. Currently, the institute has submitted the "Construction plan for the Demonstration Area of Organic Waste Treatment and Utilization in urban and rural areas around Taihu Lake" to the National Development and Reform Commission. The Wuzhong District Party Committee and District government entrusted the Institute to carry out the demonstration sites construction in the three towns of Wuzhong District (Linhu Town, Dongshan Town, Jinting Town). In June 2019, Academician Fusuo Zhang of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was introduced as the chief scientist of the Institute, and he was successfully approved as the 2019 Soochow Innovation Leading Team. Professor Ji Li was approved as an entrepreneurial leading talent in Gusu in 2020, the Institute was approved as a provincial and municipal foreign expert studio, Jiangsu Province's "Hundred People Plan" and other projects. The Institute was awarded the title of Suzhou industry-university-research cooperation demonstration carry on convention of cooperation and development of large institute in Suzhou. It was successfully approved the construction project of Jiangsu Province Carbon Peak Carbon neutral major innovation carrier (new research and development institution), and the national high-end talent introduction project - Qiming Plan in 2022. It was approved as Suzhou Organic Cycle Engineering Technology Research Center, and it was selected as National Cooperative Innovation Demonstration enterprise by China Association for Promotion of Industry-University-Research Cooperation In 2022. It was approvedas an industrial research institute, the Institute is an important scientific research achievements transfer and transformation base of China Agricultural University in the Yangtze River Delta region. Since 2019, the Institute has taken the lead in the construction work of the national first organic waste treatment and utilization demonstration center in Linhu Town, Wuzhong, Suzhou has been in operation for three years. It was approved as an investment project within the central budget of the Yangtze River Delta integration Development Project in March 2021. July 2021,it signed a cooperation framework agreement on the treatment and utilization of urban and rural organic waste around Taihu Lake region with Yangtze River Eco-Environmental Protection Group Yangtze River Delta Branch. At present, the construction of organic waste treatment and utilization demonstration area around Taihu Lake has begun to take effect. The processing center of Linhu Town and Dongshan Town in Wuzhong District of Suzhou has been completed, the Fenhu project in Wujiang District has successfully won the bid, and it is in preparation for construction. The Jinting project in Wuzhong District is also in progress, and the other projects such as Kunshan in Suzhou, Liyang in Changzhou, Haining in Jixing, Dangyang in Hubei, Bayanor in Inner Mongolia are in progress. While actively promoting the construction of organic waste treatment demonstration projects, the Institute also actively promotes some other core work related to the organic cycle industry chain such as application of organic fertilizer registration certificate. The registration certificate using kitchen waste as raw materials applied successfully. It is will provide market access guarantee for the production of organic fertilizer and agricultural use of organic fertilizer. And it will provide product support for replacing chemical fertilizer to this type of organic fertilizer, and achieving carbon sequestration and emission reduction in farmland.
