Seventh meeting of the PCB small intersessional working group

Highlights: At its sixth meeting on December 2022, the PCB small intersessional working group (SIWG) considered the preparation of the report on progress towards the elimination of PCB and the draft strategy to meet the 2025 and 2028 targets on PCB under the Stockholm Convention . in line with its workplan mandated in decision in its Decision SC-10/7. Decision SC-10/7 also invited Parties and observers to provide comments on the draft guidance on a standardized approach to developing inventories of polychlorinated biphenyls.The reports and updated guidance were presented at COP 11.
 
Decision SC-11/3 on polychlorinated biphenyls welcomed the reports and updated guidance and further invited Parties to further submit comments on these documents. The Parties also decided to re-establish a small intersessional working group to assist the Secretariat in preparing, for consideration by the Conference of the Parties at its thirteenth meeting:
 
  1. A report on progress towards the elimination of polychlorinated biphenyls;
  2. A revised strategy for Parties to meet the 2025 and 2028 goals of the Stockholm Convention, taking into account the comments received in accordance with paragraph 3 of the present decision;
  3. Revised guidance for the development of inventories of polychlorinated biphenyls and analysis of polychlorinated biphenyls and revised versions of other guidance relevant to polychlorinated biphenyls available under the Stockholm Convention, taking into account the comments received in accordance with paragraph 3 of the present decision;
Finally, it was also decided to undertake, at its thirteenth meeting, a review of progress towards the elimination of polychlorinated biphenyls in accordance with paragraph (h) of part II of Annex A to the Convention.
