On September 7, 2023, the Asia-Pacific regional meeting of the open-ended working group (OEWG) on a science-policy panel(SPP) on Chemicals, Waste, and Pollution was successfully held in Bangkok, Thailand, in a hybrid format. The aim of this meeting was to undertake strategic discussions to prepare for the second session of the OEWG, scheduled for 11-15 December 2023 in the Nairobi, Kenya. The meeting was attended by 30 in person and 17 online participants from Member States and Major Groups. Professor Li Jinhui, Executive Director of BCRC China, chaired the meeting. Dr. Chen Yuan, Director of Regional Chemicals Management Office of BCRC China and Dr. Zhang Qiaoyun, the Programme Officer, attended the meeting as observers online. The meeting covered topics of organizational matters for OEWG 2, including intersessional work, budget, provisional workplan, five working documents, and logistical arrangements for OEWG 2. This meeting increased the information awareness among the participating countries and helped clarify some doubts or ambiguities, laying the groundwork for the upcoming OEWG 2 meeting.
