On May 22-23, 2023, the BCRC/SCRC successfully organized the Forum on Plastic Waste and POPs in Asia-Pacific Region in Sanya, Hainan Province, China. The forum was held both online and offline, with over 50 representatives from six countries, including China, Cambodia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka, as well as research institutions and business representatives in attendance. The conference covered four main topics, including the implementation of the Stockholm Convention National Implementation Plans/National Reports, International and regional management on plastic and its waste, Regional implementation and plastics technical guidelines under Basel Convention and case sharing. This conference provided participants with a deeper understanding of the management of POPs and plastic waste in relevant countries, as well as regional and international developments. It also laid a solid foundation for the BCRC/SCRC to carry out follow-up regional activities.
