The Review Meeting of the National Standard " Determination of key chemicals in consumer products—Part 9: Hexabromocyclododecanes" Was Successfully Held

 On December 17, 2024, the review meeting of the Chinese national standards " Determination of key chemicals in consumer products—Part 9: Hexabromocyclododecanes", which is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee on Standardization for Consumer Product Safety and jointly led by Tsinghua University and the China National Institute of Standardization, was successfully held online. The meeting invited experts from multiple institutions, such as the Chinese Academy of Inspection and Quarantine, Shenzhen Academy of Metrology and Quality Inspection, and the China Textile Testing & Certification Services, to participate in the review. More than 30 people attended the meeting, including representatives of the drafting group, such as Dr. Chen Yuan from Tsinghua University / Basel Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific(hereinafter referred to as "BCRC China"), and Director Liu Xia from the China National Institute of Standardization, as well as enterprise representatives from Haier, Gree, Meiling, Deli, etc.
At the beginning of the meeting, Director Liu Xia from the China National Institute of Standardization introduced the background of the standard's project approval and compilation. On behalf of the drafting group, Li Yali, the project assistant of BCRC China, gave a detailed report on the compilation process, method verification results, inter-laboratory comparison results, and the adoption of solicited opinions of the standard, and also explained one by one the questions raised by the review experts. Subsequently, the experts reviewed the standard text and related materials and gave detailed modification suggestions for the standard text and the compilation instructions. In the review summary, the review expert group pointed out that the standard has comprehensive content, clear hierarchy, and a reasonable structure. Its main technical content meets the current needs for the determination of hexabromocyclododecane in consumer products, and it is of great significance for the supervision of toxic and harmful chemical substances in consumer products and the protection of human health and ecosystem safety.
