"Integrated SC toolkit to improve the transmission of information under Articles 07 and 15" and "Continuing Regional Support for POPs Global Monitoring Plan under the Stockholm Convention"

The projects entitled "Integrated SC toolkit to improve the transmission of information under Articles 07 and 15" and GEF-funded project "Continuing Regional Support for POPs Global Monitoring Plan under the Stockholm Convention" are established by a small-scale funding agreement (SSFA) between UNEP and BCRC China under the GEF funded projects (GEF ID: 4894 & 9884). The period of execution is from February to July 2022.

The objectives of the projects include:

  • (1) promote information exchange and capacity building on the following project outputs through online webinar(s);
  • (2) promote the capacity building and information exchange on the general considerations for setting up national mechanisms for NIP development/update and reporting, as well as for priority setting under the NIP development/update;
  • (3) promote the use of the integrated articles 7 and 15 electronic toolkit;
  • (4) assess national capacity on POPs monitoring and conduct pilot test to strengthen regional coordination on sustainable monitoring of POPs;
  • (5) develop online training courses for conducting POPs inventories and data handling of the POPs monitoring results.

The project outcomes include:

  • (1) promote the integrated articles 7 and 15 electronic toolkit and its use among the Parties served by BCRC-SCRC China, and thus facilitate the development, transmission, access and use of data contained in National Implementation Plans (NIP) and National Reports as required by the Stockholm Convention;
  • (2) strengthen conditions for sustainable monitoring of POPs at regional and national levels towards fulfilling the obligations under the Stockholm Convention in particular its effectiveness evaluation; and
  • (3) support the development of online training courses for conducting POPs inventories and data handling of the POPs monitoring results.
