On September 9, 2020, the Norway China development and environment cooperation Annual Consultation 2020 was held in Beijing, organized by the Norwegian Embassy in Beijing. BCRC China attended the consultation. More than 20 China representatives from the Ministry of Commerce, Ministy of Ecology and Environment, Foreign Environmental Cooperation Center, Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development, and China Beijing Environment Exchange, participated the consultation.

The consultation reviewed the progress of five Sino-Norweigian projects under implementation, updated the latest development on biodiversity management projects, and discussed the impact of COVID-19 on projects, audit system in China, financial risks and reporting formats.

During the consultation, Dr. Yuan Chen, Chief of the Regional Chemical Management Office of BCRC China, introduced Sino-Norwegian cooperation project on capacity building for reducing plastic and microplastic pollution (SINOPLAST) which was implemented by BCRC China. Mr.Christoffer Grønstad, Environment Counsellor of Norwegian Embassy in Beijing, expressed great appreciation for the work have been done by BCRC China, and also congratulated on the approve of inception report and 2019 progress report of SINOPLAST, and pointed out BCRC China made great contribution to global marine environmental protection.
