2021年6月26日-28日，第十六届固体废物管理与技术国际会议(暨2021全球废物论坛)(ICWMT16)在北京于线上线下成功举办。此次国际会议以“无废城市”建设次第推进为主题，由清华大学、联合国环境规划署、斯德哥尔摩公约亚太地区能力建设与技术转让中心、中国环境科学学会主办，由巴塞尔公约亚太区域中心、中国环境科学学会固体废物分会、中国环境科学研究院固体废物污染控制技术研究所、中国环境保护产业协会固体废物处理利用委员会以及中国科学院过程工程研究所承办。会议邀请生态环境部固体废物与化学品司周志强一级巡视员、副司长，中国工程院郝吉明院士，美国艺术与科学院院士、美国密歇根州立大学杰出教授刘建国博士，巴塞尔公约、斯德哥尔摩公约、鹿特丹公约三公约秘书处罗尔夫·帕耶执行秘书，联合国环境规划署驻华代表处涂瑞和代表，中国环境科学学会彭宾副秘书长致开幕词。邀请全球34个国家和地区的208名官员和专家作报告。
会间，SINOPLAST在大会环节举办项目阶段成果宣传。会议以“海洋微塑料”为主题，邀请项目参与单位，分别介绍了项目整体进展，并重点围绕陆海大气微塑料输运、通量及环境效应，中国塑料废物环境无害化管理进展，我国海洋微塑料监测进展等开展研讨。会议通过Zoom线上参会及线下现场参会专家代表共计800余人，社会各界在线观看会议云现场总计242.4万人次（云现场29万人次、凤凰新闻136.3万人次、网易新闻77.1万人次）。在ICWMT16期间宣传项目成果取得良好的宣传效果。
The 16th International Conference on Solid Waste Management and Technology (ICWMT16) was successfully held in Beijing from June 26 to 28, 2021 in a combination of online and offline modes. Themed by “orderly progress in construction of ‘Zero-Waste City’”, the conference was co-hosted by Tsinghua university, United Nations Environment Programme, Stockholm Convention Regional Centre for Capacity-building and Technology Transfer and China Society for Environmental Sciences; and organized by Basel Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific (BCRC China), the society of solid waste of Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, Institute of Solid Waste Pollution Control Technology, Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences, Solid Waste Treatment and Utilization Committee of China Environmental Protection Industry Association and Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences. Mr. Zhiqiang Zhou, deputy director of Ministry of solid waste and chemical department of MEE; Mr. Jiming Hao, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering; Dr. Jianguo Liu, professor at Michigan State University; Mr. Rolf Payer, Executive Secretary of the Secretariat of the Basel Convention, Stockholm Convention and Rotterdam Convention; Mr. Ruihe Tu, from the United Nations Environment Programme China Office; and Mr. Bin Peng, Deputy Secretary-General, Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences delivered opening speeches. 208 officers and experts from 34 countries and regions were invited to give their report at the conference.
Under the theme “marine microplastic”, phase results of the SINOPLAST project were communicated to participants of the conference. Partner units of the project introduced the progress and discussed topics about land, marine and atmospheric transportation of microplastic, flux and environmental impact; China’s progress in environmentally sound management of plastic waste and monitoring of marine microplastic. Over 800 experts and representatives participated in the conference offline or online via Zoom. A total of 2,424,000 individuals from the public watched the conference via live broadcast (290,000 via Yun Live, 1,363,000 via Phoenix News and 771,000 via NetEase News). The outcomes were successfully communicated to a wide range of participants during ICWMT16.
