The International Conference on Waste Management and Technology (ICWMT) Initiated by BCRC Beijing

With the approval of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of China, the International Conference on Waste Management and Technology (ICWMT) initiated by Basel Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific (BCRC Beijing) has been held for 7 times since 2005. It is an important international platform for specialists and officials to discuss scientific problems, exchange experiences, and look for innovative solutions. The ICWMT attracts a great number of participants from governments, research institutions, universities and industries annually. ICWMT 7 attracted more than 450 delegates from over 35 countries.
 
On this basis, the ICWMT8 has be held in Shanghai Ramada Plaza Pudong on October 23-25, 2013. Totally 438 delegates from 28 countries and regions who were in research institutes, enterprises and government departments attended the conference. In line with the spirit of "Maximize Recycling of Waste, Protect the Environment, Promote the Construction of Ecological Civilization", the theme of ICWMT8 was "Towards Ecological Civilization".
 
Relying on the Conference, Workshop on Hazardous Waste Disposal Facilities Construction, Accreditation and Operation, Workshop on E-waste Treatment Technology, Workshop on the Amendment of Technical Policies of Pollution Prevention and Control for Waste Household Appliances and Electronic Products, Workshop on Technic Manual for Audit of Type and Amount of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, Regional Trade Symposium on Promotion of Technical Assistance and Technology Transfer in Asia and the Pacific, Basel Forum in Asia-Pacific Region on Promotion of Basel Convention Implementation, was also held back-to-back. In addition, technical field trip of Waste Plastic Recovery, Hazardous Waste Incineration and E-waste Treatment was arranged during the conference.
