On June 9, The National Institute of Environmental Research under the Ministry of Environment announced that it publish the ‘Technical Data Book on Waste Batteries from Electric Vehicles’ to effectively respond to the ongoing discussions on international standards by the International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee on Waste Management (ISO/TC297) and to utilize it as a professional resource for policy and industry. This data book covers domestic and international battery management policies, industry and technology trends, and developments in international standardization related to waste batteries. In particular, it is characterized by its comprehensive organization of information on the entire process of collecting, storing, and transporting waste batteries from electric vehicles. It also includes information on battery regulations and market trends in major battery-producing countries such as Korea, the United States, the European Union (EU), and China, as well as the structure of the secondary battery industry, the import and export status of black mass, and details on the supply chain of critical materials. This data book is expected to be highly useful not only for policy development and responding to ISO in the public sector but also as a practical resource for the industrial field.
