England, UK Rolled Out “Simpler Recycling”

Release time:2025-09-09

On August 20, England is about to overhaul how it recycles, hoping its new policy will bring a tall goal in reach: 65 percent diversion by 2035. After decades of leaving it to councils (England’s version of municipalities) to decide what they deemed worthwhile to recycle, the government has set nationwide rules. Those rules will call on all Brits to separate a defined list of materials into four streams. Based on an impact assessment, the British government estimates the guidelines it’s carved out will save emissions valued at about £11.8 billion ($1.35 billion).
