On August 19, Northern Kentucky and the Cincinnati area have implemented a lithium-ion battery recycling program managed by the Cincinnati Recycling and Reuse Hub to assist residents in safely disposing of lithium-ion batteries. Research indicates over 25000 lithium-ion battery fires have occurred in the United States. Consequently, select fire stations in Northern Kentucky have been designated as drop-off points for lithium-ion batteries, though they do not accept other battery types such as automotive batteries.
