On August 18, Pensacola, Fla. Has successfully relaunched its opt-in recycling program, with resident sign ups exceeding city expectations. Approximately 2700 households, representing 13% of the current sanitation service area, have enrolled—surpassing the initial first-month goal of 10%. Since its launch this summer, the program has already collected 42,000 pounds of clean recyclables. The city aims to improve recycling education and ensure higher-quality materials through the revamped initiative.
