Chattanooga, U.S. TN Launched Curbside Food Scrap, Glass Collection Pilot Program

On November 6, Chattanooga, Tenn., launched its curbside food scrap and glass collection pilot program. The pilot program was announced earlier this year and will be available to residents in neighborhoods near Brainerd Road and Lee Highway. NewTerra Compost and Overlooked Materials will be providing containers and collection services. NewTerra is also setting up additional recycling containers at Chattanooga’s five recycling centers, available to all of the city’s residents. The program is supported by $150,000 in city funds, supplemented by $105000 from the state. The pilot program is set to run for a year with the potential to expand based on success.
