On February 2, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), following the second meeting of the Special Task Force on the Enforcement Management Roadmap for Plastic and E-Waste Imports, announced an immediate and absolute ban on the importation of electronic waste, after deciding to reclassify such shipments under the Customs (Prohibition of Imports) Order 2023. The meeting also discussed a proposed three-month moratorium on the importation of plastic waste, aimed at tightening controls on hazardous waste and safeguarding the environment.
