The scheme on BAT on e-waste of dismantling and recycling obsolete and used computers fit for developing countries

Basel Convention Coordinating Center for Asia and the Pacific implemented the project named as “Collection and Treatment Schemes for E-wastes” with the support from APFED Showcase Programme during 2007-2009.

This project aims at forming a set of feasible operation systems to recycle and dispose of e-waste at pilot city in order to reduce, recycle, and dispose of e-waste in an environmentally sound manner, such as computers and printers, and to improve public environmental consciousness.

The laboratory research on dismantling and recycling PCBs are conducted, by combining with investigation and evaluation on current national and international waste computers’ dismantling and recycling technology, the technological scheme on dismantling and recycling obsolete and used computers that fits for developing countries was proposed and demonstrated in one e-waste recycling enterprise in Suzhou.
