BCRC China Participated in a Training on Legal Frameworks and Implementation of Controlling Hazardous Chemicals and Wastes for
the BRS Conventions

In January 2022, the Secretariat of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions organized a regional training to strengthen the capacity of Parties in Asia related to national legal and institutional frameworks, enforcement, prevention and combatting of illegal traffic and trade in hazardous chemicals and wastes to implement the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions. Mr. Rolph Payet, Executive Secretary of Secretariat of the BRS conventions delivered opening remarks for the training. Dozens of experts from the BRS Secretariat, United Nations Environment Programme, World Customs Organization, International Crime Police Organization and other relevant organizations gave presentations about legal frameworks, implementation mechanisms and practical experience during the fourday training. Mr. Dong Qingyin, Chief of the Waste Management Branch, BCRC China, shared China’s national regulations on hazardous waste control and identification scheme for hazardous waste. Ms. Chen Yuan, Chief of the Regional Chemicals Management Branch, BCRC China, participated in the training as a representative of China’s technical support agency for implementation of the conventions.
