Technical Policies of Pollution Prevention and Control for Waste Household Appliances and Electronic Products

In order to reduce the amount of waste household appliances and electronic products, improve the utilization rate of resources and to control the pollution in the process of recycling and disposal, according to the “Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Waste”, "Cleaner Production Promotion Law of the People's Republic of China" and relevant environmental protection laws and regulations, “Technical Policies of Pollution Prevention and Control for Waste Household Appliances and Electronic Products”("TechnicalPolicy" for short)came into force on the date of promulgationon April 27^th, 2006. The“Technical Policy" proposed the guidelines and goalson pollution preventionof waste electrical and electronic products.The guidelines include "polluter responsibility" principle, which regulated the responsibility shared by producers, sellers and consumers, and the "reduction", "resource", "harmless" principles. Thetarget is topublish and updatethe toxic and harmful substances directory, which were prohibited and restricted in the use of products, to establish a perfect recycling system of waste household appliances and electronic products, andto standardize the environmental behavior of waste household appliances and electronic products recycling process.
