On August 15, the signing ceremony for the “Basel Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific – KUMHO-SUNNY PCR Plastic Upcycling Training and Promotion Base” held at the School of Environment, Tsinghua University. Attendees included Xin Minqi, Founder & CEO of Shanghai KUMHO-SUNNY Plastics Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “KUMHO-SUNNY”) and accompanying personnel; Professor Li Jinhui, Executive Director of BCRC China and other stuff from BCRC China.
Professor Li Jinhui stated that the BCRC China has long been supplying the Asia-Pacific region with technical expertise, standards, and professionals in the field of environmental management of hazardous wastes and chemicals. He expressed hope to collaborate with KUMHO-SUNNY to translate macro-level plastic governance policies into actionable, implementable practices. CEO Xin Minqi expressed the desire to leverage the BCRC China’s technological and platform strengths to achieve breakthroughs in PCR plastic digital traceability and design. This would ensure the traceability of recycled plastic sources, visualization of manufacturing processes, and comprehensive data logging throughout the entire life-cycle. He also hoped that the collaboration would further expand corporate visibility and enhance international influence. At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties engaged in pragmatic discussions on cooperation details and implementation pathways, jointly anticipating the project’s early launch and steady, long-term progress.
