On September 23, a delegation of 21 members from the Permanent Delegation of Developing Countries to the WTO, including Ambassador Clara Manuela Da Luz Delgado Jesus and Minister Daniela Garcia Freire Maria, visited School of Environment, Tsinghua University and BCRC China. Accompanied by representatives from China's Permanent Mission to the WTO and the Ministry of Commerce’s Department of WTO Affairs, the delegation engaged in discussions on plastic pollution management.
The visit was chaired by Ms. Nana Zhao, Assistant Director of BCRC China. Mr. Jinhui Li Executive Director of BCRC China and Professor at School of Environment, Tsinghua University, delivered a welcome address. Ms. MARIA Daniela GARCIA FREIRE, Deputy Representative, Permanent mission of Ecuador to the WTO outlined the purpose of the visit and expressed gratitude. Subsequently, Chinese experts presented an overview of the School of Environment,Tsinghua University, BCRC China’s progress in plastic pollution management, and innovative models for intelligent sorting and recycling of low-value plastic waste in China.
During the discussion session, both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics including channels for cooperative participation in plastic pollution control and waste plastic treatment models. The foreign delegation highly commended China's relevant efforts and extended an invitation to participate in the WTO Informal Dialogue Initiative on Plastic Pollution Control. Following the meeting, the delegation toured the School of Environment and the campus, with representatives from multiple countries expressing their willingness to advance further cooperation
