On January 22, BCRC China and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia held a signing ceremony in Beijing for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening cooperation in the environmentally sound management of chemicals and wastes. Professor Li Jinhui, Executive Director of BCRC China, and Mr. Batchuluun BAT-ULZII, Director General of the Policy and Planning Department at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia, signed the MOU on behalf of both parties. The signing of this MOU was approved by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China and witnessed by Mr. Bat Batbaatar, Minister of Nature, Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia. Attendees included Mr. Enkhbold, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to China; Mr. Enkhbold, Vice Minister of Urban Development, Construction and Housing; Ms. Chen Yuan, Chief of the Regional Chemical Management Branch of BCRC China; and Ms. Li Yingying, Program Officer of the Regional Waste Management Branch of BCRC China.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia is a central government agency responsible for formulating and implementing national policies, legislation, and plans related to environmental protection, climate change mitigation and adaptation, reduction of environmental pollution and degradation, and promotion of sustainable development and green transition. As a key member of the Asia and Pacific region, Mongolia’s exploration and practices in waste and chemicals management hold significant reference value for regional environmental governance.
The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding marks a new phase of standardized and regularized cooperation between the two parties. Moving forward, based on mutual needs, they will deepen collaboration in areas such as environmentally sound management of chemicals and wastes, the "Zero-Waste" initiative, and capacity building.
