On April 20, a signing ceremony was held in Istanbul to mark the accession of 20 Turkish cities to the “International Zero-Waste City Network” initiated by BCRC China. The event was co-hosted by Turkish Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change and the Zero Waste Foundation. Ms. Zhao Nana, Assistant Director of BCRC China, attended the event. Mr. Samet A?IRBA?, President of the Zero Waste Foundation; Mr. Fatih TURAN, General Director of the General Directorate of Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Ms. ?ule Bekta?, Director of Planning and Project Implementations Division; as well as mayors and representatives from the 20 Turkish cities participating in the International Zero Waste City Network also participated in the signing ceremony. Mayors and representatives from 20 Turkish cities formally signed the confirmation letter to join the International Zero Waste City Network. Ms. Zhao Nana, Mr. Samet A??rba?, and Mr. General Fatih Turan jointly presented network membership certificates to the 20 cities.
In 2022, BCRC China officially launched the International Zero Waste City Network, with the aim of providing a platform for exchange among cities and countries, advancing the international “zero waste” agenda, and fostering cooperation among stakeholders. As of April 30, 2026, the International Zero Waste City Network had a total of 102 members (including 9 co-founding organizations) and 5 observers from 26 countries.
