Service Rights and Interests
(I) Members
1.Participation in International Activities: The Network periodically organizes international exchange events, including the International Day of Zero Waste, International Conferences on Waste Management and Technology, and seminars and training sessions on Zero Waste Cities, providing valuable opportunities for face-to-face engagement. Members may register for these activities free of charge and, where appropriate, receive financial support to facilitate their attendance.
2.City-to-City Cooperation and Technical Consulting: By leveraging the Network's expert resources, Members can access technical consulting services and explore potential project collaborations.
3.Engagement in Global Environmental Governance: The Network can facilitate connections with relevant UN agencies to recommend Members for participation in high-level activities, helping to integrate local urban experiences and insights into global environmental governance processes.
4.Access to Information and Updates: The Secretariat produces a bi-monthly newsletter that delivers the latest zero-waste policies and information at international, regional, and national levels. It also shares best practices among members to foster ongoing knowledge exchange.
(II) Observers
1.Enhanced Visibility: By actively participating in Network activities, Observers can effectively showcase their zero-waste concepts and achievements, thereby strengthening their international profile, brand credibility, and overall influence.
2.Expanded Opportunities: The Network serves as a bridge, connecting Observers with global demands for zero-waste city construction and environmental governance. This facilitates access to international resources and supports the development of collaborative projects and market opportunities.
3.Access to Information and Updates: The Secretariat produces a bi-monthly newsletter that delivers the latest zero-waste policies and information at international, regional, and national levels. It also shares best practices among members to foster ongoing knowledge exchange.
Core Responsibilities
(I) Members
1.Engage in collective advocacy at the international level to advance the zero-waste concept, contribute to the joint development of relevant standards, and collaborate on the publication of research reports, case studies, and international initiatives.
2.Actively participate in Network activities and establish cooperative relationships with other Members and Observers.
3.Proactively recommend qualified entities—such as provinces, cities, associations, universities, research institutions, and group enterprises—to join the Network, and provide constructive suggestions for its development.
4.Champion the zero-waste concept by integrating it into urban development agendas, serving as exemplary models, and offering replicable best practices and experiences for other cities.
(II) Observers
1.Adhere to the principles of sustainable development and comply with all relevant international conventions and policies, including the Basel Convention. Actively engage in the research, development, process optimization, and practical application of zero-waste technologies.
2.Proactively recommend qualified associations, universities, research institutions, and group enterprises to join the Network, and provide constructive suggestions for its continued development.
