Thomas H. Christensen

Thomas H. Christensen’s research direction is waste treatment technology, involving the use of life cycle assessment tools and focusing on the overall management of waste management systems, with an emphasis on waste technology. He focuses on developing the EASETECH/EASEWASTE model and applying it to waste management issues in many parts of the world. He has significant research experience in waste characterization, waste collection, recycling, waste biological treatment, incineration, use of waste on land, landfilling of waste, ashes disposal, construction and demolition waste, and handling of special waste(paint waste, WEEE). He has served on various committees and collaborated with various organisations (eg Danish Waste Management Centre/DAKOFA, ISWA; IWWG) and research institutes (Danish Research Council/Strategic Research Council, Energy Technology Development Programme). He is also involved in the evaluation of national research programmes and the evaluation of research institutions in Denmark and abroad. He was also the co-founder and associate editor of the international journal "Waste Management and Research" (1983-1994) and published the international textbook "Solid Waste Technology and Management" (Wiley, 2011).
