Guoren XU is a Professor,National High-Level Talent Program inductees; International Water Association (IWA) Fellow. 

He presided over (chief scientist) many projects in the field of sludge biomass waste, such as "National Key R&D Program", National "863" Program Key Project, National Natural Science Foundation Key Project.

He has won many awards such as the "Global Innovation Honor Award" of the International Water Association (IWA) and the second prize of National Technological Invention Award. He has obtained 17 national invention patents and published about 100 papers. 

He serves as a member of the Strategy Committee of the International Water Association (IWA), the Secretary-General of the Sludge Committee of the International Water Association (IWA), and the Vice Chairman of the Solid Waste Committee of the Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences. 

He serves as the Project Leader of the Sludge Standards Committee of the International Standards Committee (ISO), and the core editorial board of international journals.
