Ayman Elshkaki

Ayman Elshkaki is professor at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), professor at the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), and visiting senior research fellow at the Key Laboratory of Carrying Capacity Assessment for resources and Environment of the Ministry of Natural Resources. He is Chemical Engineer by training and obtained his Ph.D. in Industrial Ecology at Leiden University. Prior to his current appointment, he spent six years at the Centre for Industrial Ecology of Yale University, three years at the Centre of Environmental Policy of Imperial College London, and six years at the Institute of Environmental Sciences of Leiden University. He was appointed as scientific expert by the European Commission, French National Institute for Agricultural Research, and Latvian Council of Science. His research interests include Industrial Ecology, Material Flow Analysis, Resources Management, Material-Energy-Water-Climate Nexus, Sustainability of Emerging Energy and Transportation Technologies, and Integrated Assessment Modelling. He has published over 50 papers in Scientific Journals, Books and Conferences Proceedings, including Global Environmental Change, Applied energy, Environmental Science & Technology, Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering, Cleaner Production, and Communication Earth & Environment. He has reviewed more than 300 papers for 33 scientific journals including Nature, Nature Energy, Nature Climate Change, Nature Sustainability, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Applied Energy, and Environmental Science & Technology. He has chaired several sessions at international conferences and member of the scientific committee and scientific advisory board for several conferences.
