With the support of policies and the market, the production and sales of EVs in China reached 9.587 million and 9.495 million respectively in 2023, an increase of 35.8% and 37.9% year-on-year, and a market share of 31.6%; the ownership reaches 20.41 million, accounting for 6.07% of the total number of cars in 2023. The EV market has shifted from policy driven to market driven, and the EV battery, as a key component of vehicles, has also attracted increasing social attention. In recent years, China has gradually attached great importance to the recycling and utilization of EV batteries, established a policy framework system for the recycling and utilization based on EPR. Moreover, various types of EV recycling models emerged, and quantities of application scenarios for echelon use and battery recycling technologies entered into practical application. The Basel Convention is also promoting the development of technical guidelines for the recycling and utilization of EV batteries. In order to strengthen inter-industry exchanges, promote information exchange between upstream and downstream, and improve the efficiency of EV recycling, relying on the annual ICWMT, BCRC China will continue to hold special meetings on the synergy and efficiency of EV battery recycling. Representatives from universities, research institutes, recycling enterprises and other relevant stakeholders are invited to participate, share research progress, express insightful opinions, and explore industrial prospects.
