On November 5-8, 2019, the third meeting of the expert working group on the review of Annexes to the Basel Convention took place in Bratislava, Slovakia, and a total of 24 Parties’represent and 24 observers attended the meeting. As a member of the expert group, Mr Dong Qingyin, the Chief of regional waste management office of BCRC China participated in the meeting. The expert working group focused its work on the development of options for possible amendment proposals to Annex IV, entry A1180 in Annex VIII and entry B1110 in Annex IX, for presentation and discussion at the twelfth meeting of the Open-ended working group (OEWG-12, Geneva, 22-25 June 2020), and on the development of its findings on the possible consequential implications of the review of Annex IV for other annexes of the Convention and for relevant decisions of the ConferenceoftheParties, inter alia, for the notification and movement documents and the reporting format. Views from Parties and others on the recommendations developed by the expert working group on options for possible amendment proposals to Annex IV, entry A1180 in Annex VIII and entry B1110 in Annex IX are invited by 15 April 2020 and will be made available to the OEWG-12. During its third meeting, the expert working group also exchanged general views on the review ofAnnexes I and III, and agreed on the elements of a way forward regarding the latter.
