Xiaohu DAI is dean of College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Tongji University, Director of National Engineering Research Center for Urban Pollution Control, and Director of Shanghai Institute of Pollution Control and Ecological Security. Since returning to China in 2010, he has led the team to conduct research on "Stabilization and efficient resource recovery of sludge and organic waste in urban sewage plants". It has undertaken more than ten national research topics such as national science and technology support, national water special Project, "863" program, National Natural Science Foundation, and international cooperation projects, and has made a number of breakthroughs in key technologies and filled the domestic technology gap.
The research results of "Advanced anaerobic digestion technology based on high temperature and high pressure thermal hydrolyzed sludge" were demonstrated and applied in the first and largest sludge centralized treatment and disposal project in Changsha City (500 tons/day) in China at that time, realizing the localization of technology and equipment. And in Xi 'an (1000 tons/day), Mudanjiang (150 tons/day), Jiamusi (100 tons/day), Lijiang (40 tons/day), Luzhou (300 tons/day), Dongguan and other places to achieve application promotion, promote the development of China's sludge treatment and disposal industry; The project demonstration of the "Collaborative anaerobic digestion technology of Sludge and urban organic Waste" was realized in Zhenjiang, China's first urban food waste and sludge collaborative treatment project (260 tons/day, including 140 tons/day of food waste and 120 tons/day of domestic sludge), recycling biogas to purify natural gas, and biogas residue for landscaping. It provides technical support for the promotion and application of collaborative efficient resource recovery technology of sludge and urban organic matter. The research results of "a new generation of low-carbon mass water supply, drainage and waste resource recycling system" are based on the 2014 Qingdao World Expo to carry out engineering transformation and demonstration application in Shiyuan Village community, which is the first large-scale engineering demonstration for living areas in the world to realize the recycling of regional water and pollutants. It provides a new idea for the efficient treatment and recycling of sewage and solid waste in the process of urbanization in China.
