Dong Qingyin is an Associate Researcher at the School of Environment, Tsinghua University / Basel Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific, and serves as the Director of the Regional Waste Management Office. He is a member of small intersessional working group on waste batteries technical guidelines, Household Waste Partnership Working Group, PACE II Working Group and Review of Annexes of the Basel Convention, and also an expert in the technical review expert tank for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in China. Research areas include EV battery recycling, WEEE management and recycling, hazardous waste treatment and recycling technologies, hazardous waste management policies, and solid waste import and export policies. As a project technician and project backbone, he has participated over 50 projects including National Key R&D Projects, National science and technology support plan projects, Environmental protection public welfare scientific research projects, National social science fund major projects, Beijing social science major projects, projects entrusted by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Basel Convention Secretariat, and enterprises cooperation. Published over 30 articles, participated in the writing of 7 monographs, and jointly applied for 7 patents. In recent years, he has released research reports such as the "International Research Report on Waste EV Battery Recycling and Treatment Industry (2017)", " Outlook on the Recycling of Electric Vehicle Batteries in Asia Pacific", and "Management of Used and Waste EV Batteries - Case Studies in China ", and organized more than 10 EV batteries related workshops and seminars.
