The Ninth International Conference on Waste Management and Technology was held in Beijing Jingyi Hotel on October 29-31, 2014. With the theme of "Waste Management for Closed Cycle", the conference was organized by the Key Laboratory of Solid Waste Treatment and Environmental Safety of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of Education of Tsinghua University, the Technical Center for Solid Waste and Chemicals Management of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People's Republic of China, the United Nations Environment Programme and the Stockholm Convention Regional Centre for Capacity-building and the Transfer of Technology in Asia and the Pacific, Basel Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific, Solid Waste Branch of Chinese Society For Environmental Sciences, Institute of Solid Waste Pollution Control Technology of Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, Solid Waste Treatment and Utilization Committee of China Environmental Protection Industry Association, International Waste Working Group.

More than 500 representatives from research units, enterprises and government departments from 32 countries and regions participated in the conference and its chapters. A total of 38 main venue reports and 45 sub-venue reports were delivered. At the same time, relying on this international conference, Held the "e-waste Policy Seminar", "China Fluorescent Tube Collection and Treatment Demonstration Project Seminar", "Hazardous Waste Management Seminar", "Contaminated Site Management and Rehabilitation Development Opportunities and Challenges Seminar", "Solid waste Disposal Technology and Industry Development Seminar", "2014 Asia-Pacific Regional Seminar on Technology Transfer and Technology Transfer", "Asia-Pacific Regional Forum". There were 43 conference reports in total in the seven sessions.

A total of 138 articles were received, covering various fields of solid waste management, treatment and disposal such as hazardous waste, electronic waste, biomass, industrial waste, and contaminated sites. A total of 18 outstanding papers were selected. Proceedings of the Ninth International Conference on Waste Management and Technology was published by Trans Tech Publications and submitted to EI (Engineering Index) and CPCI(ISTP) for search.
