Professor Chu Jian is currently a President's Chair Professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), where he serves as Dean of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Director of the Centre for Urban Solutions, and Co-Director of the Singapore Industrial Wastewater Treatment Centre. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Engineering Singapore. Previously, he held the position of tenured full professor and James M. Hoover Chair Professor at Iowa State University, USA. He has served as President of the Geotechnical Society of Singapore and as Chair of the Technical Committee on "Coastal Geotechnical Engineering for Disaster Prevention and Mitigation" under the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE). He is currently Chair of the ISSMGE Technical Committee on "Reclamation Technology," and holds editorial roles including Editor-in-Chief of Acta Geotechnica and Biogeotechnics, among other concurrent positions.
