Prof. Seeram Ramakrishna

Professor
Professor Seeram Ramakrishna currently holds the positions of Chair Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tsinghua University, Xinghua Distinguished Chair Professor, and Director of the Center for Intelligent Wearable Technology . He also serves as a Visiting Professor at the National University of Singapore. He has been recognized as one of the "World's Most Influential Scientific Minds" (Thomson Reuters) and listed as a "Highly Recommended Scholar" (Scholar GPS). He has published over 500 Q1 journal papers, with an H-index of 222 and over 230,000 total citations. His research has also been published in top-tier journals such as Nature, Nature Reviews Methods, Nature Communications, and Matter.
He holds numerous prestigious international academic honors: Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK; Fellow of the Academy of Engineering, Singapore; Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering; Fellow of the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology; Fellow of the International Academy of Engineering and Technology; Fellow of the International Academy of Bionic Science and Technology; and Fellow of the World Association for Artificial Consciousness (WACA). He is also a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), ASM International, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE); the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE, UK) and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IoM3, UK); the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE); the International Union of Biomedical Science and Engineering (IUBSE); and the International Society for Bioengineering (ISBE).
Professor Ramakrishna received his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, UK, and completed an Advanced Management Program at Harvard University, USA. He has held senior research positions at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Johns Hopkins University (USA), and the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan. In academic leadership, he has served as Vice President (Research Strategy) at the National University of Singapore, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Director of Enterprise, Chairman of the Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS), Director of the Bioengineering Program, Director of the NUS Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Initiative (NUSNNI), and was a founding member of the Global Engineering Deans Council.
He has also provided consultancy services to the World Bank and various international and national organizations. As an advocate for the internationalization of higher education and interdisciplinary research innovation, Professor Ramakrishna continues to exert significant influence in these fields.
