Prof. Weixiang WU

Zhejiang University
Professor Weixiang Wu, Ph.D. supervisor, is a recipient of the New Century Excellent Talents Award from the Ministry of Education, China and the Zhejiang Provincial Outstanding Youth Fund. He has been named an Elsevier "Highly Cited Chinese Researcher" in 2023 and 2024, and consecutively included in Stanford University's "World's Top 2% Scientists" list for both career-long and annual scientific impact from 2023 to 2025. Currently, he serves as the Director of the Institute of Environmental Pollution Control at Zhejiang University and the Head of the Solid Waste Research Center at the College of Environmental and Resource Sciences. His long-term research focuses on the theory and technology of organic solid waste resource utilization. He has led over 30 key national and provincial projects, including the National Key R&D Program, 863 Program, and Zhejiang's Pioneer and Leading Goose R&D Initiative. He has published more than 130 papers in renowned journals such as Nature Food, Microbiome, and Environmental Science & Technology, etc. Several of his technological innovations in organic waste recycling have been applied at industrial scale, earning him the Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (First Prize), Zhejiang Natural Science Award (First Prize), Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award (First Prize), and National Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Prize).
