Professor Yao Jun, a doctoral supervisor, is the recipient of the National Outstanding Young Scientist Fund and the chief expert of the National Key Research and Development Program. She has been engaged in research on the resource utilization of mining waste and pollution control for a long time. She innovatively proposed the "using waste to treat waste" strategy and utilized the technology of large-scale solid waste combined with microbial geochemical in-situ mineralization to control and remediate pollutants. She has led over 20 projects under the National Key Research and Development Program, with a total budget of 98.76 million yuan. She has obtained 29 patents, published over 200 SCI papers (with 1/3 of them in Zone 1), and authored or co-authored over 10 books. The environmental pollution control technologies for mines developed by her have been applied in multiple mining, selection, and smelting sites around the world, generating a total benefit of 4.13 billion yuan. She has received more than 10 awards, including the National Environmental Protection Science and Technology Award (first prize) and the Hungarian Török Tibor International Cooperation Medal. She is also an eligible candidate for the L'Oréal Women in Science Award.
