Dr. Wei QIAO is a full professor in the Department of Agricultural Engineering at the College of Engineering, China Agricultural University. His research focuses on the anaerobic digestion of organic waste for bioenergy production and pollution control. He conducted research on agricultural waste, food waste, industrial waste and sewage sludge, etc. Since 2001, he has been researching anaerobic digestion, including high solids AD, plug flow AD, anaerobic membrane bioreactors, biohydrogen production, biogas bio-desulfurization, and pathogen and antibiotic elimination. He has published over 100 SCI articles and holds 10 patents. He is a member of the European Biogas Association, representing his institute, and has been an international member of the Japan Society on Water Environment since 2016. He has served as a technical expert in the ‘Biogas’ working group at the International Standardization Organization since 2015 and became a technical expert in the working group of ‘biogas’ in the National Standard Organization of China in 2021. In 2024, he received the Pandey Research Excellence Award from the International Bioprocessing Association for his contributions to anaerobic digestion biotechnology.
