Ph.D. Le ZHANG

Le Zhang, Ph.D. and Postdoctoral Researcher from the National University of Singapore, is currently an Associate Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, and Group Leader at the Biomass Energy Engineering Research Center, Department of Resources and Environment, School of Agriculture and Biotechnology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is selected as part of the Shanghai Overseas High-Level Talent Program. His research focuses on biomass energy, waste resource utilization, and environmental biotechnology, particularly on novel anaerobic digestion technologies for organic wastes and theoretical aspects of oil-producing microbial fermentation. He has led national and provincial projects including the National Natural Science Foundation, Ministry of Science and Technology International Cooperation Program, National Talent Introduction Project, and Shanghai Science and Technology for Agriculture Programs. He has co-authored two English monographs, published over 80 academic papers, and holds more than 10 patents (pending or granted) in China and abroad. His work has been cited over 4,000 times with an h-index of 35. He has delivered more than 40 invited talks in the UK, Croatia, Spain, Greece, and Singapore. He serves as a Council Member of the China Biogas Society and the China Agricultural Engineering Society, and is a member of the China Society of Renewable Energy, the China Environmental Science Society, and a lifetime member of the International Society for Bioprocesses. He is an associate editor of Journal of Sustainable Mining, an editorial board member of Biomass Conversion and Biorefinery, and a young editorial board member of Carbon Neutrality and Resources, Environment and Sustainability. He has served as an organizing committee member for multiple international conferences and reviewed manuscripts for over 30 international journals. He has received the International Young Waste Researcher Award, the International Society for Bioprocesses Young Scientist Award, the China Biogas Society Outstanding Academic Paper Award, and the Singapore Bioenergy Society Achievement Award. He is also listed in the "Top 2% Most Influential Scientists" global ranking.
