Prof. Wong Hung-chung

Professor
Prof. Wong Hung-chung has long been engaged in research on the resource utilization of organic waste. He has led multiple research projects with total funding exceeding HKD 200 million. He has published more than 550 SCI-indexed papers, with over 31427 citations on Google Scholar and an h-index of 94. He has also published six books, been granted more than 20 invention patents, and was included in the 2024 Global Top 2% Scientists list for academic impact. Professor Wong enjoys a distinguished international reputation in the field of solid waste treatment. He has organized numerous international conferences and has been invited to deliver keynote or invited speeches at more than 90 international seminars and conferences. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief or editorial board member of several international SCI journals, including Bioresource Technology. He is also a Fellow of the International Bioprocessing Association and Honorary Director of the Biorefinery Committee of the Chinese Society for Biotechnology. Professor Wong has also been actively involved in public service related to environmental protection in Hong Kong. He has served as Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Agriculture and Fisheries and as a member of the Advisory Council on the Environment. He currently serves as a member of the Town Planning Board and the Advisory Committee on the Northern Metropolis. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he was awarded the Medal of Honour in 2011, appointed Justice of the Peace in 2013, and awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star in 2022.
