Lan Jirong Lan Jirong

Dr. Lan Jirong is currently an Assistant Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor in the Department of Civil Engineering at The University of Hong Kong. He received his Ph.D. from Wuhan University and conducted postdoctoral research at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He serves as a member of the Dredging Professional Committee of the China Dredging Association, a member of the Dredging Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Hydropower Engineering, and a certified expert of the Nonferrous Metals Think Tank under the Nonferrous Metals Society of China. His research focuses on the harmless treatment and resource utilization of bulk solid wastes (e.g., slag, smelting slag). As first author and/or corresponding author (including co-corresponding author), he has published 38 papers in high-impact journals in environmental engineering, such as Water Research, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Chemical Engineering Journal, Journal of Cleaner Production, Bioresource Technology, and Waste Management. He has received numerous awards, including the First Prize of Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (2025), the Special Prize of Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (2021), the Second Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of the Changjiang Water Resources Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources (2022), the "Star of Self-Improvement for Chinese College Students" (Top 10 nationwide), the "Chinese College Student of the Year", and the "Luojia Outstanding Student" of Wuhan University.
