Prof. Nengwu Zhu, Ph.D., is a distinguished professor at South China University of Technology. He currently holds multiple leadership roles, including Party Secretary of the School of Environment and Energy, Director of the Key Laboratory of Pollution Control and Ecological Restoration of Industrial Clusters of the Ministry of Education, and Director of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Environmental Protection for Solid Waste Treatment and Resource Recycling. Additionally, he serves as Deputy Director of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory for Solid Waste Pollution Control and Resource Utilization. His professional engagements extend to Chair of the First Expert Committee on Hazardous Waste Identification in Guangdong Province, Vice President of the Guangdong Cleaner Production Association, and Environmental Policy Advisor to the Guangdong Provincial People’s Congress.
Prof. Zhu has been honored with prestigious accolades such as the Ministry of Education’s New Century Excellent Talents Award, inclusion in the Global Top 100,000 Scientists list, and consistent ranking among the Top 2% of World’s Most Cited Scientists. Specializing in the low-carbon recycling and utilization of solid and hazardous waste, Prof. Zhu has spearheaded over 50 major research projects, including the National Key Research and Development Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Education's New Century Excellent Talents Support Program, the International Science Foundation, and the Major Special Project of Industry-University-Research Cooperation in Guangzhou. His scholarly contributions include more than 200 publications in internationally renowned journals (Angewandte Chemie-International Edition, Environmental Science & Technology, Advanced Science), four academic monographs/textbooks, and over 50 authorized national invention patents. Received the First Prize for Technological Invention of Guangdong Province, the Second Prize for Natural Sciences of Shandong Province, etc.
