Professor Dezhen Chen comes from Tongji University. She was selected for the New Century Excellent Talents Programme of the Ministry of Education. She is an associate editor of the <Waste Management> journal and an editorial board member of Environmental Sanitation Engineering and Detritus journals. Member of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAP) of the International Solid Waste Working Group (IWWG), Expert Member of the Special Committee on Village and Town Waste Management of CEA; Think Tank Expert of the Basel Convention Asia-Pacific Regional Centre for Environmental Management of Chemicals and Wastes (BCRC-AP), Deputy Director of Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Multi-source Solid Wastes Co-processing and Energy Utilization. Chief editor of 2 wastes pyrolysis standards. She has developed a series of technologies and equipment for the production of high-quality oil, and functional char, synthetic gas of high calorific value with adjustable quality through the pyrolysis of multi-source solid wastes. She has transformed and applied more than 10 inventions related to solid waste pyrolysis, covering a patent pool for solid waste pyrolysis and upgrading, and won the first prize of Environmental Protection Science and Technology Award in2024.
