Yuan Chen, Director and Researcher of Tsinghua University/the Regional Chemicals Management Office, Basel Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific. She concurrently serves as member of the national delegation for negotiations on international environmental conventions concerning wastes and chemicals, Asia-Pacific regional expert of Global Chemicals Outlook II, and member of Chemicals Environmental Risk Prevention and Control Committee, Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences. Her research focuses on marine plastic waste, microplastics, POPs and chemicals environmental management policies. In the past five years, as principal investigator and core team member, she has completed over 50 domestic and international projects, published more than 30 papers and monographs, participated in the formulation and revision of 6 relevant technical guidelines, standards and patents, and submitted over 20 special policy reports to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.
