He serves as a council member of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, the chief scientist of the Hydrometallurgy Branch of the China Association of Resources Recycling, the director of the Specialized Committee on Heavy Metal Pollution Prevention and Control of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, and the deputy director of the Solid Waste Branch of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences. He has published 100 SCI papers, including 40 high - level SCI papers (in the first zone), and holds 30 invention patents. Internationally, he first proposed the theoretical system for the resource utilization of heavy metal - containing hazardous waste. He was also the first to introduce the membrane bioreactor (MBR) into the field of bioleaching, thus solving the industry problems of long cycle and small treatment capacity in bioleaching technology.
