Zhao Nana, Assistant Director/Researcher at Tsinghua University / Basel Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific. Her primary research focuses on policies and technologies for environmental management of solid waste and toxic and hazardous chemicals.
Zhao Nana has long been engaged in technical support and negotiations for the implementation of international conventions on solid waste and chemicals, serving as a core negotiator for the Chinese delegation to the Basel Convention and the international instrument on plastic pollution. She has led or served as technical lead for over 40 international, national, and provincial projects, published more than 20 papers, and filed 7 patents (4 granted). She has participated in the development and revision of 3 technical guidelines and standards on chemicals at both international and domestic levels. Based on her research outcomes, she has submitted over 20 policy advisory reports to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and other authorities, with one report receiving a personal endorsement from central leadership.
