Primary research interests lie in the anaerobic biological treatment and resource recovery of organic wastes. To overcome key limitations in conventional anaerobic processes, including slow organic matter degradation and low methane production efficiency, this work focuses on the electrochemical enhancement of anaerobic biotreatment and the mechanistic elucidation of extracellular respiration. These studies have yielded a series of innovative outcomes, which were awarded the First Prize of the Ministry of Education Technological Invention Award (2025).
The related research has been published in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, including Nature Communications, Environmental Science & Technology, and Water Research, with the author serving as first or corresponding author. The researcher has also been the principal investigator of one sub-project of the National Key R&D Program of China and one project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation for Young Scientists.
