Jinhui LI

Professor/Executive Director
Jinhui LI is a Tenured Professor at the School of Environment, Tsinghua University, and Chief Scientist of the Research Team for Circular Economy and Urban Mining at Tsinghua University. He also serves as Executive Director of the Basel Convention Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific and the Stockholm Convention Regional Centre for Capacity‐building and the Transfer of Technology in Asia and the Pacific under the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Additionally, he is a member of the 2nd National Expert Committee on Ecological and Environmental Protection and an invited annual observer for ecological and environmental protection of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China.
He has long served as a negotiation expert for the Chinese Government in international conventions and platforms concerning chemicals, waste, and renewable resources. His main research interests include solid waste and circular economy management policies, solid waste recycling and utilization, solid waste treatment and disposal as well as pollution control engineering, global environmental governance and international environmental conventions, solid waste standardization, pollution reduction and carbon emission assessment for Zero-waste City development, and environmental risk assessment.
He is the Editor-in-Chief of 《Circular Economy》 (included in the China Science and Technology Journal Excellence Action Plan, ranking among the top 3% of journals in the relevant field) and Associate Editor of 《Chinese Journal of Environmental Engineering》. He has published over 300 SCI papers, received more than 40 awards at the national, provincial/ministerial, international and industry levels, authored or edited over 60 monographs, and holds more than 60 authorized invention and utility patents.
