Zhongwei ZHAO is a professor and doctoral supervisor of central south university. He is the professor of Ministry of Education "Yangtze scholars award program" distinguished, vice President of metallurgical science and engineering, the central south university, director of pollution metallurgy institute, China institute of metals, metallurgical physical chemical professional committee, China institute of nonferrous metals, China non-ferrous metal tungsten and carbide innovation alliance, Hunan province, director of the key laboratory of rare metal metallurgy and material preparation. In 2005, he was selected into the "New Century Excellent Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education" and "Hunan Province Academic Leaders Training Target". In 2009, he was selected into the national "New Century Million Talents Project", and in 2012, he was appointed as the "Special Professor of Changjiang Scholars Award Program" of the Ministry of Education. His research interests are rare metal metallurgy, separation of similar elements, and metallurgical process strengthening. Undertook and participated in 11 projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, National 863 and National 973 projects; and published 128 papers in domestic and foreign academic journals, including 33 are included in SCI, 55 in EI; 27 national authorized invention patents. He has won one first prize of National Science and Technology Progress (2011, ranked 1), one second prize of National Technological Invention (ranked 4 in 2001), two first prizes of provincial and ministerial progress (2009, ranked 1; 2000), and three second prizes of provincial and ministerial Science and Technology Progress. The scientific research team won the first prize of "2011 National Science and Technology Progress Award" for the project of "Key technologies for in-depth development and application of refractory tungsten resources". The project includes the whole set of key technologies of tungsten decomposition, high concentration ion exchange, symbiotic tungsten-molybdenum separation and short process depth impurity removal, which successfully solve the problems of efficient utilization and clean production in China, provide technical support for the use of tungsten resources, reaches international advanced performance, meets the needs of the national economy and national defense, and contributes to the progress of metallurgical science and technology and the national economic construction.
