He Conceptualised and is the mentor of a mission, “Catch Them Young: Zero Waste & Circular Economy in Campus”, the first initiative ever to involve school children in Circular Economy in which 3,25,000 students and teachers have been working with him from 240 schools in India, & Georgia have been working. Editor of the Journal of MC&WM, more than 40 books by CRC press, Springer Singapore Inc., Oxford Publishing House and others; wrote ten books & more than 300 national and international articles and book chapters. Received 3 patents in India & Bangladesh on “Eco-friendly plastics recycling machine [Patent 202532 dt.02032007] and “Automatic High Speed Jute Ribboning Machine” [Patent.1005146 dt.17022014]. He received Distinguished Visiting Fellowship 2012 by the Royal Academy of Engg, UK; The Boston Pledge & NABC 2006 Award in 2006, Houston, USA; the best paper awards from Tsinghua University 2014, 2016, China, Award for Outstanding Achievement in Sc. & Technology by IEM, India in 2025. Well-known consultant Provided expert services to nearly 150 industry units in India, Taiwan, Denmark, and the UK being an expert of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22001, ISO 45001, & ISO 50001. He has been the experts in a few technical committees in the state of West Bengal and Govt of India. He established “Policy on Anti-Plagiarism, Jadavpur University, 2019”. He is the Chair of IconSWM-CE since 2009.
He had been a mountaineer, practiced Rowing and represented JU. He participated in the Cycling Expedition in Taiwan in 2009 on invitation. Qualified trainer of Rock Climbing, Passed Basic Mountaineering course in 1979 from HMI, Manali. Leader of “Puri Nou Avijan” by Country Boat in 1982. Planted 13,000 trees in Dabu, Canning and 2000 trees in Uttarbhag Pumping station in 1983. Observed silver jubilee of plantation in 2008. Established the, “Institute of Ecological Exploration” in 1983.
